I’ve had the good fortune to have music as a constant throughout my life

I’ve played piano and domra, a traditional Ukrainian string instrument, since childhood. I completed my BA in Donetsk before going on to postgraduate study at the Kyiv Conservatory, the country’s most prestigious music institution. During this time, I also performed with the Lik Domer Orchestra under conductor Valery Ivko, gaining valuable experience as a professional musician.

Since leaving the orchestra, I’ve taught privately for over eight years and in schools for four. I specialise in engaging, structured lessons for young learners, helping them build confidence and enjoyment in music from the very beginning. I also work with adults of all levels — whether their goals are passing exams, improving theory, or learning favourites from Bach to Elton John.

Like many, I was deeply affected by the events of February 2022. My journey took me from Kyiv to Berlin, and eventually to London — a city rich in artistic life and diversity, which has offered me a new sense of belonging and creative energy.

The musical life that took root in Ukraine has, through the rupture of war, found a new place to grow — here in London, my adopted city, and now my home.

In and Out of Phase

This piece is a great example of how a track originally written as EDM can be reimagined as a modern piano composition. It was created by American DJ and producer Andrew Bayer, featuring LA-based songwriter and producer Kerry Leva.

Adapting popular music like this for piano (for any level) is something I really enjoy and have become quite good at over the years.
